    This piece was hand made in Daum’s Nancy France workshops by skilled artisans. Pate de Verre items are created from a paste of different colored crushed glass particles. These are placed in a mold and then fired in a hot kiln for ten days. The glass particles fuse together forming an attractive Pate de Verre item. No two Daum Pate de Verre items have the same exact coloration because the particles are distributed differently in the molds. The ancient lost wax process is used which enables Daum to execute designs that would not be possible with traditional press molding. Daum has posted a video that walks you through the Paté de Verre process.
